Fire burns 70 dönüms of land

A BLAZE burned 70 dönüms of stubble and three trees near the Lefkoşa district village of Kanlıköy.

It is believed that the fire was started by sparks from power cables coming into contact with each other because of the wind, on the “dam road” last Thursday. Local residents, police, firefighters and Gönyeli Municipality personnel responded to the fire.

The flames also spread to the garden of an old and empty building but they were brought under control before reaching Kanlıköy village.
