Chickens first, then the eggs
CONSUMERS have been hit by a fresh wave of price increases for chickens and eggs. Last Thursday, August 25, the typical price of a kilo of chicken increased from 49.99TL to 57.49TL
The prices of other chicken products, such as wings, breast, drumsticks, thighs, liver and gizzards have also increased by a similar amount.
The following Thursday, September 1, the price of eggs also rose, by 25 kuruş per egg to 2.65TL. At the beginning of May eggs cost 1.80TL each.
According to inflation figures up to July, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages have increased by an average of 58.32 per cent since the start of 2022 and by an average of 124.88 per cent compared to July 2021.
