Pianist Fazıl Say to open internatio­nal music festival

WORLD-renowned pianist and composer Fazıl Say (pictured) will take to the stage with soloist Serenad Bağcan at the opening night of the 20th Internatio­nal North Cyprus Music Festival in the Ancient Theatre of Salamis.

The open-air concert will start at 9pm this Tuesday (September 13), weather permitting. In addition, Say will also put on a solo piano performanc­e of his own works.

Tickets cost 300TL per person for “Ancient Theatre Seats” and 450TL per person for “VIP First Row Seats”. They can be purchased at Deniz Plaza branches in Lefkoşa, Gazimağusa, Girne, Yenikent and Yeni İskele or online via biletfest.com.

Tickets can also be purchased on the door on the evening of the concert for 350TL each but only for the “Ancient Theatre Seats”.

Organisers said that children under the age of six will not be admitted, while older children must have tickets for the concert.

The festival, organised by the North Cyprus Music Associatio­n, will continue with a number of concerts until October 31.

These include a concert by soprano Demetra George Mustafaoğl­u and LBO, conducted by Oskay Hoca and entitled “Beyond – Opera, Broadway & Pop” at Bellapais Monastery at 8.30pm on Sunday, September 25; and a “Three Tenors” concert by Şenol Talinli, Ayhan Uştuk and Aykut Çınar, with Esra Poyrazoğlu Alpan on piano, also at Bellapais Monastery starting at 8.30pm on Saturday, October 1.
