Drivers hurt after ‘losing control’ of their vehicles

TWO drivers required hospital treatment following separate accidents in the early hours of last Saturday.

According to a statement released by the police, Mete Ünal, 22, collided with two trees in an accident that occurred on Atatürk Caddesi in Boğazköy at around 2.45am.

Mr Ünal was driving north when he “lost control” of the car due to his “carelessne­ss”, police said, crashing into a tree on the side of the road and then skidding “uncontrol-The lably” into a second tree.

Mr Ünal had to be freed from the wrecked car by firefighte­rs and was taken to Lefkoşa Dr Burhan Nalbantoğl­u State Hospital, where he was placed under observatio­n in the orthopaedi­cs ward.

On the same day at 00:30, Israel Oluwakored­e Oyebola, 25, was driving towards Lefkoşa when he also “lost control of his car due to carelessne­ss”, on the Girne-Lefkoşa main road.

The vehicle went off the left side of the road and hit the metal crash barriers, then slid back across the road into concrete barriers in the central reservatio­n before rolling on to its right side.

Mr Oyebola sustained minor injuries and was taken to Lefkoşa Dr Burhan Nalbantoğl­u State Hospital. He was discharged after receiving treatment. Police launched investigat­ions into both accidents.
