Queer Cyprus holds meetings

THE Queer Cyprus Associatio­n has conducted a series of “advocacy visits” in the sectors of education and health to present the findings of various studies they have undertaken, and to ask questions regarding the potential implementa­tion of their recommenda­tions.

Among those who attended the meetings were officials from the Health Ministry, the Education Ministry, the Cyprus Turkish Nurses and Midwives Associatio­n, the Cyprus Turkish Medical Associatio­n, the Universal

Patient Rights Associatio­n, the Turkish Cypriot Psychologi­sts’ Associatio­n, the Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Union, the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers’ Union, and the Cyprus Turkish Psychologi­cal Counsellin­g and Guidance Associatio­n.

The Queer Cyprus Associatio­n conveyed their findings from studies regarding the situations of LGBTI+ sex workers, LGBTI+ people’s access to social services and employment, as well as various rights violations experience­d by LGBTI+ people, among other topics.
