Paedophile sentenced to eight years in prison
A MAN who sexually abused two five-year-old girls in Girne has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
A panel of judges at Girne Assize Court unanimously found the defendant Cumali Çinçar guilty of “sexual abuse of children under the age of 16”.
The judges’ decision stated that Mr Çinçar had said that he was taking the two five-yearold girls to the park on March 20, 2022, at around 4pm in Girne, but instead took them to the back of the 23 Nisan Primary School and sexually abused them. Members of the public who witnessed the incident “intervened and notified the authorities, who caught” Mr Çinçar. The court ruling noted that “sex crimes and sex crimes against children are becoming more frequent” and that these crimes cause “public concern and outrage” and that “exemplary punishments” should be handed down for such offences.
