İskele Mayor vows to fix up family’s fire-hit home
İSKELE Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu has promised to repair the home of a family that was badly damaged in a fire.
The fire was caused when the five-year-old child of Leyla and Tarık Çetinkaya was playing with a lighter at their home in the İskele district village of Kalecik, as previously reported in this newspaper.
According to a statement issued by İskele Municipality, Mr Sadıkoğlu, accompanied by local muhtar Murat Özer, paid a visit to the property last Friday to inspect the damage. Conveying his best wishes to the Çetinkaya family, Mr Sadıkoğlu promised that his municipality “will do whatever is needed” to help them. Noting that it was “very lucky that no-one died” in the fire, Mr Sadıkoğlu added he was “sorry that the home has become unusable”.
Mr Sadıkoğlu explained that he has “initiated the rebuilding of the house” and that the family has been rehoused in Kalecik until the work is completed.
