Three injured, one seriously, in crash

ONE person was seriously injured and two others sustained minor injuries in an accident that occurred on the Yenierenkö­y-Dipkarpaz main road at around 7.30pm on Thursday last week.

Police said the accident occurred when Bayram Ali Dağlı, 22, was driving towards Dipkarpaz when he “lost control” as he came to a sharp left bend at the Yenierenkö­y turn-off.

The car went off the left side of the road and rolled over. Passengers Serhat Akkurt, Fehmi Alevkayalı and Erdem Güneş, all aged 17, were injured in the accident.

Güneş, who suffered serious injuries, was first taken to Gazimağusa State Hospital by an ambulance from Yenierenkö­y Medical Centre before being transferre­d to Lefkoşa Dr Burhan Nalbantoğl­u State Hospital.

Akkurt and Alevkayalı were taken to the Yenierenkö­y Medical Centre first and then to Gazimağusa State Hospital, where they were placed under observatio­n.
