We’ll spend less in TRNC thanks to 30-day visa rule

-

MY WIFE and I are long retired and have for many years spent two periods of six weeks holidaying in the TRNC, spring and autumn.

Our current visit has been interrupted by the 30-day visa rule, which now seems to be operating, so we will decamp to the South for 10 days so as not to fall foul of the regulation and perhaps have problems returning in the future.

However, to make best use of the cost of air fares to Cyprus in future, we will now plan to spend only two periods of four weeks in the TRNC and two weeks in the South to make up our six weeks.

That means every year the TRNC will lose four weeks of car hire, restaurant and bar expenditure, music tickets, etc., just from the two of us, let alone others who find themselves in a similar situation.

Can someone explain to me why this is a benefit to the TRNC when everywhere we have been there is a widespread complaint about the lack of tourists?
