Pedestrian dies after being hit by motorbike
A PEDESTRIAN lost his life after being struck by a motorcycle on the Lefkoşa-Güzelyurt dual carriageway on Tuesday evening.
Musa Baytar, 23, was crossing the road near Arda Market in Yenikent, Gönyeli, at around 7.30pm when he was hit by the motorbike ridden by Kemal Hamit, 30, according to a police statement.
Mr Baytar was taken to Lefkoşa Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital but succumbed to his injuries despite all the efforts of doctors to save his life. Mr Hamit was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The road was cordoned off as a large number of police officers and detectives investigated the scene of the incident while a crowd of onlookers watched from the side of the road.
