Webb and Talay claim Captains Day golf titles
ANDY Webb and Nilüfer Talay were the winners of the annual Korineum Golf Club’s Captains Day Competition.
Over 50 players turned out for the Stableford format tournament, with club captain Tim Case presenting the prizes to the winners.
Webb won the men’s group with 40 points, closely followed by runner-up Ernie Proudfoot on 38 points.
Talay won the women’s group with 38 points on count back, with runner-up Josephine Black also finishing on 38 points.
The competition was followed by lunch and a raffle which, combined with the players’ entry fees to compete, raised 5,725TL for charity on the day.
Korineum Golf Club members’ committee secretary Amanda Warrender said this means the club has raised a total of over 20,000TL so far this year for the captain’s chosen charities, which are the Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips) and the Freedom Sanctuary in Alsancak.
Ms Warrender congratulated the winners and thanked everyone who took part in the competition.
