Ercan-Trabzon flights to start in December
FLIGHTS between North Cyprus and the Turkish Black Sea city of Trabzon are to start in December, it has been announced.
Turkey’s Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu made the announcement last week during a visit to the TRNC, although he gave no further details.
Earlier in the month a group of people originally from Turkey’s Black Sea coast staged a protest outside the Lefkoşa offices of Turkish Airlines.
During the protest they complained that the lack of direct flights means the only way to travel to and from their homeland is via İstanbul or Ankara.
Mr Karaismailoğlu also spoke about the 602 kilometres of roads that have been built and opened to traffic in the TRNC as part of a “Highways Master Plan” funded by Turkey.
