Animal lovers to hold protest over deaths

A GROUP of animal lovers are to hold a protest today following the poisoning of scores of stray dogs and cats in the Hamitköy area.

At least four dogs and nine cats have been found dead on pavements and in fields in recent weeks.

The demonstration, organised by the “Hamitköy Nature Conservation Platform”, will start at 1pm in front of Belça Supermarket in Hamitköy.

A statement from the Hamitköy Nature Conservation Platform said: “They [strays] have the right to live freely too. We have to unite to protect them and defend their rights. We are expecting all animal lovers to join us [for the protest].”
