LECTRIFYING
ATA members have a wheely good time
MEMBERS of the Anglo Turkish Association of Northern Cyprus (ATA) took to the roads in the prototype Günsel electric cars during a recent visit to the Günsel production plant located next to the Near East University (NEU) campus on the outskirts of Lefkoşa.
Following an “informative presentation” about the Günsel electric car and how it fulfils a “dream” of NEU founder Dr Suat İrfan Günsel, the participants were given the opportunity to test drive the Günsel “so that they could experience the thrills of driving an allelectric car”.
Ahea Hannan said the experience was “unbelievably brilliant” while Shane Barnes described the acceleration of the car as “just like that of a jet plane, only quieter”.
ATA members then spent time in the NEU Car Museum “marvelling at the vast array of vehicles from the earliest days of motoring right up to the £180,000 super cars of today”, followed by a meal at the university’s Gusto Restaurant “before heading home in the more conventional form of transport – the good old coach”.
