Holidays to North Cyprus promoted in the Netherlands
IN A STRATEGIC move to boost overseas tourism, the Deputy Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and the Environment took part in the Vakantiebeurs 2024 Netherlands Tourism Fair, held in Utrecht from Friday, January 11, to Sunday, January 14.
Accompanied by key officials including Tourism Promotion and Marketing Department deputy director Latif İnce and Cyprus Turkish Travel Agents Union president Orhan Tolun, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and the Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu, graced the fair with his presence.
The delegation seized the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with foreign agencies and tour operators, aiming to strengthen international ties and promote tourism prospects.
Taking place at the esteemed Jaarbeurs Convention and Exhibition Centre, the fair served as a focal point for tourism professionals and visitors over a four-day period.
Its purpose extended beyond mere promotion, fostering collaboration and facilitating crucial agreements for regional development and sustainable tourism.
The primary objectives revolve around increasing the sector’s volume and business quality. The emphasis is on establishing collaboration with influential tourism professionals and companies through dedicated business-to-business bilateral meetings.
Ataoğlu, in his statement at the fair, expressed the government’s commitment to elevating the tourism sector, acknowledging its pivotal role in the TRNC’s economy.
He stressed the increased importance placed on this year’s fair in a bid to achieve pre-pandemic tourism figures.
Highlighting North Cyprus as an unparalleled destination in the Mediterranean basin, Ataoğlu underscored ongoing efforts to promote the region’s special interest tourism and diverse offerings.
Activities such as birdwatching, hiking, mountaineering, camping and caravanning make North Cyprus an attractive prospect throughout the year, he pointed out.
Ataoğlu reported a growing interest from fair visitors in exploring North Cyprus, praising its geographical location, historical significance, touristic appeal and natural beauty.
