Kyperounda reaps local awards
Kyperounda Winery, owned and distributed by the Photiades Group, has reaped the awards at the recently revived wine awards, following last year’s lull and the winding down of the Cyprus Vine Council, whose operations have since been absorbed by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The awards were organised by Limassol Municipality that, in the absence of any other organiser, was found to host the event at the Panos Solomonides Cultural Centre. Co-hosts were the wineries themselves, through their own association, held in collaboration with the Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin – O.I.V.
Kyperounda’s 2013 Chardonnay won the Grand Gold Medal, having racked up the highest score from among the 100 wines submitted by 26 member wineries and judged by a panel of 7 people.
Kyperounda also won two more gold medals and three silvers for its remaining wines, for a tally of six awards. These were:
