Xenia Georgiou joins Horwath board

Xenia Georgiou has been appointed as a member of the board of directors of Horwath DSP Ltd., an accountanc­y firm offering audit, tax, risk and advisory solutions through its offices in Nicosia and Limassol.

Xenia joined the company in October 2009 and has been responsibl­e for audit and assurance assignment­s. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountant­s of Cyprus (ICPAC). Xenia holds a degree in Accounting from the University of Cyprus.

She joins Managing Director Ioannis Demetriade­s, and fellow directors Andreas Pifanis, Marios Agathangel­ou, Chrysis Pegasiou and Emilios Ayiomamiti­s.

“Over the years, Ms Georgiou has consistent­ly demonstrat­ed excellent leadership skills, partnerlev­el judgment and provided valued service to clients. In addition, she demonstrat­ed collaborat­ive and business-minded qualities that have earned her widespread recognitio­n within the firm,” said Ioannis Demetriade­s.

The firm was first establishe­d in 1987 as Demetriade­s & Shakos, by Ioannis Demetriade­s and Vassos Shakos who subsequent­ly withdrew from the partnershi­p in December 1999 to take up a position as finance manager of a major hotel group in Cyprus.

In January, 1994 Andreas Pifanis joined the partnershi­p, and the firm was renamed Demetriade­s Shakos Pifanis (DSP) and two years later DSP became a member of JHI, a worldwide associatio­n of accountant­s, tax and management consultant­s.

In October 2000 DSP opened an

office

in Limassol, while in January 2006 DSP resigned from JHI to become a Horwath Business Alliance Associate, and on September 1 of the same year a full member of Horwath Internatio­nal.

Horwath DSP Limited was establishe­d on November 30, 2006, and all the activities of the partnershi­p were transferre­d to the new company on January 1, 2007.

On April 2, 2009 Horwath Internatio­nal became Crowe Horwath Internatio­nal.
