ISignthis honours top performing UCY computer science students
Global provider of identity verification and payment services iSignthis, has awarded the top five students of the University of Cyprus’ Computer Science Department with a total prize of EUR 7,500.
The award ceremony is organised by the School of Pure and Applied Sciences of UCY at the end of each academic year and aims to award their graduates for their academic performance.
This year, iSignthis honoured the undergraduate students’ outstanding academic performance and excellence in the courses of artificial intelligence (AI), image processing, systems security and logic programming.
The students have already been awarded their prizes of EUR 1,500 each after the completion of their degree and have received their honorary plaques during a special ceremony last month by the company’s representative, Or Kapelinsky, Chief Operating Officer, of Australian and Frankfurt Stock Exchange listed iSignthis Ltd.
The winning recipients were graduates; Michalis Papaevripides, Maria Psara, Andreas Dionysiou, Marios Karapetris and Yiannis Demetriades who will go on to do further studies.
“These prizes reflect the company’s commitment to invest and contribute to the development of the young workforce especially in the technology sectors and, with the establishment of annual prizes for excellence,” iSignthis said.
It seeks to encourage the new generation of software engineers and scientists to continue to pursue their vocation, both academically and professionally.
As part of the establishment of an ongoing partnership with UCY, iSignthis will offer graduate employment to five graduates as part of the company’s Graduate Programme at their operations office in Nicosia, offering “industry-leading salary, training, health insurance plan and other benefits”.
“Through this programme, successful graduates will benefit from exposure to security, operations and development as well as get hands-on experience working alongside top-tier experts in the payments, e-banking and eidentity ecosystem developed by iSignthis.”
The Cyprus office - established in 2015 - mainly deals with payments and emoney, with locally operations including product, development, QA/QC and compliance.

During the award ceremony last month for excellence in Pure and Applied Sciences, UCY students received a total of EUR 45,000 in prize money across the disciplines (such as Maths and Physics) from various organisations and businesses. Sponsors provided cash funds, rewarding academic performance, unparalleled ethos, social contributions, and input to the academic community.
Among the prize-givers were; Cyta, Logicom, Wargaming, Dot.Cy and Lab Supplies.
