Es­te ar­chi­pié­la­go es un ro­sa­rio de unos cua­ren­ta ca­yos e is­lo­tes y más de dos­cien­tos ban­cos de co­ral que se abre en torno a una la­gu­na oval, la En­se­na­da de los Co­ra­les, a 166 km. al nor­te de la cos­ta cen­tral ve­ne­zo­la­na. Un es­tre­chí­si­mo y lar­go Ca­yo Sal, al que si­gue Nu­be Ver­de, for­man la ba­rre­ra co­ra­li­na sur.

This ar­chi­pe­la­go is a ro­sary of forty keys and is­lets, plus over two hun­dred co­ral re­efs that ma­ke their way in­to an oval la­goon –En­se­na­da de los Co­rra­les- so­me 166 ki­lo­me­ters north of Ve­ne­zue­la's cen­tral coastli­ne. The very na­rrow and long Ca­yo Sal, fo­llo­wed by Nu­be Ver­de, ma­kes up the south co­ral ba­rrier.
