From the DRIVER’S SEAT

Land Rover AFRICA Magazine - - CONTENTS - I’m keen to hear your suggestions and comments; please drop me a line at editor@ landymag.co.za

My brother is a BMW man. He’s driven loads of them over the years and has never had any major problems to speak of. With each new BMW he has diligently purchased a top- up on his motorplan to match the lenght of the finance term. Except with his current car. His thinking was that he paid R18 000 for the service plan on his last car and it only needed a single oil service during the period under cover. He didn’t buy the top- up this time around; now the clutch on the car is shot and he is left to pay the bill out of pocket. In this issue, we unpack the various extended warranty products available to Landy owners and also chat to a few repair shops about the costs involved should a mechanical catastrophe strike. We leave you to decide if there is value in the cover. Also in this issue we tell the story of a special 21st birthday celebration in Botswana, How Miems ( eventually) found her Landy; and how your Land Rover AFRICA magazine staffers got on in the Gabriel Beast Night Challenge. We also popped in to the KZN Landy festival held at the Eston Country Club and feature some interesting mods and rebuilds. So pour yourself a cup of coffee (or something a little stonger) and settle down to enjoy your favorite Land Rover read. We hope you enjoy this magazine as much and we enjoy producing it for you each month.

All the best
