Intercoolers – another great alternative

Land Rover AFRICA Magazine - - TECHNICAL -

Apart from changes in engine parameters via remapping or chipping, there are other ways to safely enhance diesel engine performance, and mitigate the potential risks. Providing cooler air to the combustion process is one improvement that can be achieved by simply using a better, larger intercooler. Cooler intake air leads to better performance, but can also reduce engine temperatures. In TdV6 Discovery 3 TdV6 vehicles, the standard intercooler is particularly small, and intake air temperature can decrease by as much as 20° C or more when fitting an aftermarket intercooler that is around thrice the size of the standard unit.
