Disco 5 to launch in 2016
While the recently-introduced Discovery Sport is taking the world by storm, the automaker announces that the Sport 5 will be made available for purchase next year. The Discovery 5 will appeal to the premium crossover customer competing against the BMW X5, which is currently outselling the Disco by around 200 percent. The popular cube shape will have to make way for a more urban looking vehicle that will adopt the styling of the Discovery Vision concept. New things to be added include the ‘Transparent Bonnet’ where the terrain underneath the vehicle will be projected on a heads-up display screen. Engine options include a 3.0L V6 petrol, 3.0L diesel or the new hybrid system using a new two-litre Ingenium engine and an electric motor enclosed into the eight-speed gearbox.
