Test drive of Mercedes E180 on Cairo-Alexandria desert road
THE CAR FEATURES COMFORTABLE, SUPPORTIVE, AND HIGHLY ADJUSTABLE AND VERSATILE FRONT SEATS
Daily News Egypt took the Mercedes E180 for a test drive and reviewed its performance over five days on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road as well as in an urban environment.
Under the hood lies the power of the E180: a 1,600cc engine sporting 156hp.The car is equipped with 10-speed automatic transmission and cruise control.It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 8.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 228km/h.
The car’s fuel tank has a capacity of 66 litres, with an estimated consumption rate of about 5.9-6.5 litres per 100km.
With a direct injection engine and turbocharge, the driver of E180 can feel confident and powerful.
The interior cabin of the E180 provides comfort to its passengers with the leather seats offering electric massage for the driver and front passenger, along with the many service-controlling buttons that allow the driver to control all its functions.
The front seats are equipped with sensors that maintain balance of the passengers when the car is turning. All the passengers in the E180 can also control the air flow coming from the air-condition. The dashboard is elegant, with a 12.3inch digital screen and three digital metres with different shapes.It has several charger plug sockets, USB plugs, and Bluetooth, which passengers can use without disturbing the driver. It also features small microphones in the internal roof, which enable passengers conduct phone calls clearly.
The E180 proved its efficiency on the road, especially across the twisting curves of the road. Engine noise was barely heard.
The car is equipped with airbags for the driver and front passenger, in addition to ABS and EBD brakes. It also features standard run-flat tyres.
It has a clever system to make parking easier, especially in tight spaces and crowded streets, in addition to an audio alert system. The model comes with a CD player,AUX and USB sockets,Bluetooth,and front and back electric windows with one-touch control. It allows remote control opening and closing of doors, as well as height adjustment of the driver’s seat. It also includes electronic front and rear headrests, in addition to an electricity outlet, lighting inside the boot, and light-sensitive front headlights.
The car also has a panoramic sunroof and a large trunk, with a capacity of 540 litres,while the total car weight is 1,575 kg.
The overall impression of the E180 is more than positive, especially considering its several driving systems and safety measures.
