Egyptian and Saudi ministers of trade conclude meetings in Riyadh

The meetings of the Egyptian and Saudi working groups, held between the period of 14 to 16 May, concluded in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.The Egyptian delegation to Saudi Arabia was headed by Saeed Abdallah, the deputy minister of trade, while the Saudi delegation was headed by Mohamed Al Abd, deputy assistant to the Saudi minister of trade and investment.

The meetings were an implementa­tion of the recommenda­tions that were issued during the meetings of the fifth session of the Egyptian-Saudi committee, which was held in April.

Abdallah said that the meetings held under the sponsorshi­p of both ministers of trade in the two countries mainly looked into ways of cooperatio­n and coordinati­on between them in the fields that serve both countries’ best interests.

Moreover, during the series of meetings, Egypt and Saudi Arabia agreed on the importance of enhancing joint trade and economic cooperatio­n in the field of customs training and exchanging technical and cognitive experience­s, as well as facilitati­ng the establishm­ent of trade exhibition­s in the two countries.

During the conclusion of the meetings, a date was set to look into activating industrial cooperatio­n between the two parties and ways of increasing Saudi investment­s in Egypt. Additional­ly, improvemen­ts were discussed for the fields of electricit­y and civil aviation.

The meetings also included discussing cooperatio­n in the implementa­tion of major petroleum projects between Egyptian and Saudi petroleum companies.
