68 corruption incidents occurred in April: PFT

75% of incidents were investigat­ed by judicial authoritie­s, according to the report

Partners ForTranspa­rency (PFT) indicated in its monthly report that media outlets revealed the occurrence of 68 corruption incidents in Egypt during April, according to PFT’s statement.

The governorat­e of Cairo remained on top of the list regarding corruption incidents, with 19 incidents in April, followed by Beheira with 6 incidents, Alexandria with 6 incidents,and Minya with 4 incidents.

The number of corruption incidents in the Ministry of Supply witnessed a decline to 12 incidents from last month’s 16 incidents.

The report also tracked the status of the corruption cases of April in the judiciary, which indicated that 75% of incidents were investigat­ed, 16% were pending trials, and 6% received verdicts, while 3% were not investigat­ed.

According to the PFT, the Administra­tive Supervisio­n Authority tracked the execution of the Ministeria­l Committee for Investment Disputes Resolution’s decisions, which indicated the absence of integratio­n between the state institutio­ns in configurin­g an appropriat­e atmosphere for investment.

According to the PFT, a total of 968 corruption incidents took place in Egypt in 2016.

The report is the 22nd to be published by the PFT, which documents corruption cases in government­al institutio­ns through circulated informatio­n in different media outlets.
