Egypt plays important role to maintain national security: Bin Rashed

Following the conclusion of talks in Abu Dhabi, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi arrived to Dubai and met with Vice President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohamed bin Rashed Al-Maktoum, according to a presidency spokespers­on statement on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by a number of Emirati ministers and high officials, headed by Hereditary Prince of Dubai Hamdan bin Mohamed AlMaktoum, and Deputy Ruler of Dubai Maktoum bin Mohamed Al-Maktoum.

During the meeting with the vice president, the leaders stressed on the strength of the relations of their government­s and their people.

Bin Rashed praised Egypt’s role in maintainin­g national security, safeguardi­ng Arab interests, and working to strengthen the foundation­s of peace and stability in the region. He also confirmed his country’s keenness to strengthen cooperatio­n and solidarity with Egypt in order to consolidat­e the values of peace,tolerance, and stability in the region.

He further praised the economic reform programme and economic improvemen­t,as well as the remarkable developmen­t in the level of public services.

Al-Sisi expressed his appreciati­on for Dubai’s achievemen­t in economic and social levels during the recent months, which sets an example for sustainabl­e developmen­t in the Arab region.

He also confirmed the specialty of the relations between Egypt and the UAE.

The meeting dealt with aspects of cooperatio­n between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in all fields, as well as continuing coordinati­on at various levels to serve the interests of the two countries.The two sides exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.

Regarding counter-terrorism, the leaders agreed on the importance of resolutely addressing terrorism and stopping funding or providing political and media coverage for extremist groups.

Al-Sisi’s two-day visit to the UAE aims at talks between both sides to strengthen relations and improve regional conditions. Upon his arrival,Al-Sisi held bilateral talks with the crown prince.

In May,Al-Sisi visited the UAE for two days for political and bilateral talks with Emirati leaders. His meeting with the crown prince focused on strengthen­ing bilateral relations with the UAE through increasing investment­s and economic cooperatio­n, while the current discussion­s will include tackling certain issues of the region, such as the Libyan crisis.

Egypt and the UAE were among the states that boycotted Qatar for financing terrorism. The UAE has been one of the main political and financial supporters of Egypt after the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi. Relations between Cairo and Abu Dhabi have become stronger since Al-Sisi came to power in 2014.
