Vodafone offers tender for solar power plant in Dabaa
Vodafone has launched a limited tender for the construction of a 3 MW solar power plant in El Dabaa area in Matrouh.
Mohamed El-Haddad, business development manager at Complete Energy Solutions (CES), said that his company had submitted an offer inVodafone’s bid to build a 3 MW solar power plant using net metring with the aim to win the tender.
Net metring is a mechanism that gives owners of solar energy plants dues for the electricity they add to the grid.It includes the installation of a solar system connected to the government grid and a bidirectional metre. The metre is triggered when production generation is greater than consumption and adds value to the customer’s balance.
In the end,the amount of energy produced by the solar panels and the amount of energy consumed will be offset and the customer’s net bill will be either positive or negative.
El-Haddad explained that CES is competing with Egyptian Solar Energy Systems Co for the implementation of solar power plants in buildings belonging to Telecom Egypt, gained technical qualification, presented its financial offer, and is awaiting the announcement of the final result.
According to the tender offered byTelecom Egypt, the winning company will install solar power plants with different capacities of 15, 30, 60 and 90 kW.The total number of stations has not been determined although it is likely to reach 200.
El-Haddad pointed to negotiations with a number of companies qualified for the implementation of solar energy projects in Benban,Aswan to participate in the construction work for the establishment of stations, adding that the company is nearing an agreement with another company to partake in the establishment of two 50 MW power plants.
