Shoukry con­cludes Ser­bia visit aimed to en­hance bi­lat­eral re­la­tions

Visit came dur­ing com­ple­tion of over 110 years of diplo­matic re­la­tions be­tween two coun­tries

Egypt’s Min­is­ter of For­eign Af­fairs, Sameh Shoukry, headed on Tues­day to Ser­bia on an of­fi­cial visit to dis­cuss ways to strengthen bi­lat­eral re­la­tions be­tween the two coun­tries at all lev­els.

The visit came in light of the com­ple­tion of more than 110 years of diplo­matic re­la­tions be­tween Egypt and Ser­bia.

Shoukry held meet­ings with his coun­ter­part Ivica Dačić, Ser­bian Pres­i­dent Alek­san­dar Vučić, and Ser­bian Prime Min­is­ter Ana Brn­abić, to dis­cuss op­por­tu­ni­ties to en­hance co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two coun­tries in var­i­ous fields.

The min­is­ter also at­tended a round-ta­ble ses­sion dur­ing the visit with a group of mem­bers of ma­jor Ser­bian com­pa­nies and busi­nessper­sons, to pro­mote eco­nomic re­la­tions, trade ex­change and re­view in­vest­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties avail­able for Ser­bian com­pa­nies in Egypt.

Min­is­ter Shoukry dis­cussed with the Ser­bian side re­gional and in­ter­na­tional sit­u­a­tions of com­mon con­cern.

A few days ago, Shoukry re­turned from a two-day visit to Sofia, the cap­i­tal and largest city in Bul­garia, where he met with the Bul­gar­ian pres­i­dent and other of­fi­cials, as well as signed an agree­ment for the es­tab­lish­ment of a joint com­mit­tee be­tween the two coun­tries.
