Sudan’s newly appointed Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok is expected to announce the formation of a new transitional government on Wednesday.

Hamdok received on Tuesday from the Declaration of Freedom and Change Forces (DFCF) the names of ministerial candidates.

The DFCF said in a statement that the association delivered a list of candidates for the new cabinet, affirming that it did not nominate any leaders from the Sudanese Professionals Association as they pledged.

Hamdok, a prominent economist, was sworn last week as the head of a transitional government, following months of negotiations between military and main opposition leaders.

Earlier this week, Hamdok said that his country needs $10bn foreign aid over the next two years,to rebuild the economy after the latest political and economic crisis.

He also seeks to remove his country from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism. However, a State Department senior official said on Monday that Washington still needs time to consider removing Sudan from its list.

A Sovereign Council was also formed from civilian and military figures, headed by General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, who was the head of the Transitional Military Council.

Burhan will lead the Sovereign Council for the first 21 months of the transitional period, afterwards, a civilian member will take over for 18 months until the scheduled elections in 2022.
