AS part of ploughing back to the community, teams campaigning under the RES Siyakha 1800 Programme staged a clean-up campaign in Vuvulane.

The event which attracted close to 300 participants took place on Saturday.

According to RES Siyakha Programme Manager, and Eswatini Football Association executive member, the event was a success as teams and community members came out to show commitment.

“You will remember that part of our obligation as Siyakha is to engage in community projects, hence on Saturday we had a successful clean-up campaign at Vuvulane which was attended by 270 people including juniors teams, seniors teams and residents who all showed great commitment,” he said.

Nene further thanked all the stakeholders who made this event a success including the sponsors, Royal Eswatini Sugar (RES) Corporation, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) as well as Vuvulane Town Board who lent a hand on the day.

“Thanks to the football association who donated water, Vuvulane Town Board who gave us gloves and refuse bags while RES donated with dust bins. This made the event a huge success and we appreciate that,” Nene added.

The event was attended by players and officials representing the teams under RES Siyakha as well as community members.

Other notable attendees include Mhlume Indvuna Yenkhundla, Nhlanhla ‘Bibo’ Shabangu, Vuvulane Mayor, Sibusiso ‘Sphithi’ Dlamini and officials from the Lubombo football association.

RES Siyakha 1800 Football Programme is financially backed by RES and is played under the auspices of the Lubombo Regional Football Association (LRFA).

The programme is divided into three categories namely grassroots, juniors league and seniors league.

It is not the first time the programme engages in community projects as they have done the same in areas like Ngomane and Shewula previously.
