‘TILL cheating do us part’

This manipulated adage above seems to relate closely to the man whose wife allegedly had an adulterous affair with another man to spite him for purportedly cheating on her.

The man *Sizwe has filed for divorce as he alleged that his wife, *Deli cheated on him with three men in total.

One of the men in question is alleged to have deposited E250 000 in five instalments, as compensation for being involved in an adulterous affair with his wife.

These submissions on the alleged infidelity, lies, and blackmail were heard at the Mbabane Magistrates court where the couple is involved in ongoing divorce proceedings.

Mbuso informed the court that he discovered that his wife was cheating on him with three men.

The revelation sent shockwaves across the courtroom and was also made to the effect that one of the men Deli allegedly committed adultery with, *Sandile was her relative.

He was said to be the cousin of her biological parents. The other two illicit lovers the woman is alleged to have committed adultery with were named in court. For ethics, this publication will name them Sam and Neal.

Worth mentioning is that the divorce matter was before Magistrate Xolile Nxumalo.

Meanwhile, Mabandla Nxumalo, who represents the defendant Deli, told the court that the amount of E250 000 was allegedly paid in five instalments of E50 000 in 2014.

He purported that the money was paid directly into Sandile’s account.

Sandile’s aunt, *Nomy testified in the matter. Deli’s attorney submitted that in one of the meetings where families of both parties met, it was discussed that she allegedly first committed adultery with Sam in retaliation, after discovering that her husband was also cheating on her with one Cindy*.

“Regarding the first man, the score was made even, simply because both of them were involved in adulterous behaviour,” said the defendant’s counsel.

Regarding the second incident, her counsel told the court that it was again resolved when, as the family meeting had been told, Neal allegedly paid restitution as a sign of being apologetic, which was deposited into Sandile’s bank account.

The third incident was said to have been deliberated upon, and Deli denied having committed adultery with any man.

The attorney said following the outcome of that family meeting, Sandile did not speak about the issues, especially when they appeared in court for a peace binding order. The issues were not spoken about when the couple visited the Domestic Violence and Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS).

On the other hand, when Nomi was giving her evidence, she informed the court that sometime in 2021, Deli tried to commit suicide by ingesting many tablets.

She said she did that after saying she had marital problems as a result of the accusations of adultery levelled against her by her husband. She said when taking the tablets to end her life, Deli had locked herself in her room as a sign that she did not want to be spoken to.

Nomi further told the court that Deli was saved by a relative, a neighbour. She further revealed Deli was the one who acquired the piece of land through the ‘Kukhonta system’, on their behalf.

Suspicions about the relationship were raised when the couple Deli and Sandile were now occupying different rooms in their marital home.

The aunt, Nomi, testified and said “I had to report Sandile’s matter to my brother. After that, I and some of my family members went to meet our daughter-in-law’s family. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by her biological parents, her brother, and her sister. We told them everything. My son even requested to have his wife stay at her parental home for some time, in light of the problems they were having,”

After the meeting with Deli’s family, Nomi submitted, that she received a call from Sandile, informing her that his wife had ingested tablets to commit suicide.

According to the aunt, Sandile called his in-laws, reporting what their daughter had done. She said her father tried to contact

her after the suicide incident, but she did not answer his calls.

Nomi said after this incident, they tried to meet Deli’s family to try and come up with precautionary measures to prevent her from attempting to take her own life again, while the couple stayed together.

She said it took some time for both families to meet regarding the issue. Then Deli’s family is said to have visited the couple’s matrimonial homestead, in the company of a pastor.

The crucial aim of the visit was to offer prayer for restoring harmony and peace to the troubled couple.

According to Aunt Nomi his son objected to the prayer by saying some issues needed to be addressed prior.

So, then he told everyone that his wife was cheating on him. He named three different men he alleged to have found his wife committing adultery with.

He then wailed bitterly after touching on Neal, who is said to be a relative of his wife’s biological parents. After Sandile dropped the bombshell exposing his promiscuous wife, the wife Deli is said to have pleaded for forgiveness to no avail. Sandile’s refusal to forgive his wife was based on the fact that his wife might stab herself, cry rape, and report his livid husband to the police.

When the prosecutor asked Nomi if Deli got a chance to say anything. In response, she said Deli only spoke when pleading for forgiveness. Nomi further denied that Sandile received any money from any man who allegedly cheated on his wife.

The defendant’s counsel pleaded with the court to have Deli’s parents, brother, and sister brought before the court to testify.

Nomi told the court that some of her family members would also give evidence in the matter. The matter was postponed to September 2, 2024, on a lighter note when Sandile was responding to the E250 000 he allegedly received in instalments he denied knowing anything.

He said after his return from Botswana, he had a bank account that had no money. He said as a result he assumed that the account had been closed.
