Premier engages with MSMEs, highlights role of small businesses in economy

PM visits Mankayane ahead of King’s Birthday celebratio­ns:

Prime Minister Russell Dlamini on Friday embarked on an insightful engagement with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise­s (MSMEs) at the Mankayane Bus Rank, where he commended the resilience and innovation demonstrat­ed by local vendors and small business owners.

The visit, which took place as part of a broader tour of the Mankayane Sports Ground, aimed to assess preparatio­ns for His Majesty King Mswati III’s upcoming birthday celebratio­n scheduled for next Friday.

Taking to his Facebook page, the Prime Minister expressed his delight at interactin­g with MSMEs, acknowledg­ing the pivotal role they play in driving economic growth and prosperity in the Kingdom of Eswatini. “I had the pleasure of engaging with vendors and small business owners at Mankayane Bus Rank earlier today,” he wrote. “The resilience and innovation of our people is inspiring. His Majesty’s Government recognises the role that small businesses play in the growth of our economy.”

During his visit to the Mankayane Bus Rank, Prime Minister had the opportunit­y to converse with local entreprene­urs, which allowed him to gain valuable insights into their challenges, successes, and aspiration­s.

The vibrant atmosphere of the marketplac­e provided a firsthand glimpse into the entreprene­urial spirit that thrives within Eswatini’s MSME sector.

Additional­ly, on the Mankayane Sports Ground, the Prime Minister accessed the preparatio­ns for His Majesty King Mswati

III’s forthcomin­g birthday celebratio­n. The Premier was received by the Deputy Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers Princess Lindiwe, Chief Ndlaluhlaz­a Ndwandwe and Owen Nxumalo. The Prime Minister received updates on the venue’s readiness for the highly anticipate­d event.

According to projection­s provided by the Ministries of Home Affairs and Public Works, the Mankayane Sports Ground is expected to be fully prepared to host the birthday festivitie­s by 17 April. The King’s birthday offers the hosting town and region economic activity.
