Investment opportunities, employment for Mankayane folk
MANKAYANE folk should be on the lookout for job and business opportunities.
His Majesty King Mswati III, during the jubilant festivities of his 56th birthday celebrations at Mankayane Stadium, shared an opportunity for Mankayane’s future development.
Addressing thousands of enthusiastic well-wishers, the King reminisced about the last birthday celebrations held in Mankayane in 1995, expressing delight at the opportunity to return to the town once again.
His Majesty King Mswati III reflected on the progress achieved in the region since his last visit and acknowledged the strides made but also highlighted the ample room for further expansion and development.
His Majesty the King revealed that investment initiatives were in the pipeline for Mankayane, including plans for a factory shell, tourism sites, a sports pavilion, and a shopping centre. These proposed facilities, the King emphasised, hold significant potential for job creation, offering employment opportunities to the town’s residents.
Moreover, the Monarch highlighted
the government’s decentralisation efforts, noting that decentralisation of key government functions to the sub-region, bodes well for Mankayane’s development prospects. With its conducive climate and proximity to three border posts, namely Sicunusa, Mahamba, and Gege, Mankayane presents numerous opportunities for various initiatives, particularly in agriculture and tourism.
King Mswati III expressed confidence in Mankayane’s potential to rival or even surpass other developing towns, emphasising the positive impact of the birthday celebrations on the local economy. He anticipated increased tourist arrivals, boosted retail sales, and enhanced interactions within the community, envisioning the event as a catalyst for the town’s transformation.
Turning his attention to the pressing issue of unemployment in the country, the King highlighted recent efforts to address job creation in the Lubombo region. He cited promising prospects in sectors such as mining, tourism, hospitality, health, education, construction, and services, urging continued support for these initiatives to stimulate economic growth and attract additional investments.
