Two categories for local squad in African Road Champs
– The cycling national team will only compete in two categories during the upcoming 2019 African Road Championships slated for at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, next month.
The national side will only compete in the individual time trial, the road race and not the newly introduced team time trial.
The five days competition will run from 13-19 February.
Eswatini Cycling Association (ECA) President Sihlangu Nhlabatsi confirmed the developments yesterday.
“We will only take part in two categories at the African Championships and will miss out on the team time trial because it is still relatively new,” he said.
He added that the coaches were still working on the programme for the national squad.
“We will announce all logistics of the Games once we receive a formal correspondence from the Confederation of African Cycling (CAC),” he said.
Two of the members of the team Muzi Shabangu and Gcina Banda competed in the individual time trial during the previous edition of the showpiece held in Kigali, Rwanda, in April last year.
