Boy (7) drowns in Mananga Club’s swimming pool
A seven-year-old boy has drowned while swimming at Mananga Country Club. According to the police, a 25year-old of Madlangempisi area reported that her son (7) drowned in a swimming pool.
Chief Police and Information Officer Phindile Vilakati urged parents to look after their children when visiting places of entertainment, more especially around water.
In other incidents, two deaths were also reported on January 10, 2019 caused by drowning.
The two fatal incidents happened in two different occasions around 1100 hours and 1400hrs.
Vilakati confirmed that a man of Mlumati area was discovered having drowned at Maguga dam.
The drowned man (23) was discovered by a 40-year-old woman of Dlangeni on Wednesday around 1100 hours. The women saw a floating body in the dam, then she called the police. Information gathered is that the man had been dead for days.
Initially, corpse will likely sink to the bottom, but they become decomposed and gasses are released in the body, they rise back to the surface as a result of buoyancy.
In another incident, a teenage boy (14) of Nyakeni in the Manzini region drowned while swimming at Mgwenyane River. He was discovered by a 35year-old man around 1400 hours.
Vilakati urged the public to be safe around rivers and dams.
According to recent reports , due to heavy rains that the country received, dams and river levels are higher, thus making it dangerous to play around water.
