Gcina Izwi’s album launch poorly attended, artists no show
GCINA Izwi Ngubeni’s album launch was a flop.
Held at Prince Mfanyana Hall in Manzini on Saturday evening, the album launch did not go as planned as most of the artists that were billed to perform did not show up.
Artists such as Phathwakahle, Phetsile Masilela, Siphiwo Ndlagamandla, Phelokazi Shabangu, to mention a few, did not show up.
However, those who attended such as Shiba and the Travellers gospel group, Wandile Sithole, Justice Mshengu, Umhlanga Lofecekile and Christ Like Ministries gospel group, blessed the crowd with their songs.
Only a few people attended the show.
According to the artist, the reason behind the poor attendance was because she only promoted her event in Manzini only.
She mentioned that it did not worry her much because she had a conversation with God earlier and knew that only the God chosen ones would attend her show. “I am not disappointed that such a small group of people attended as God had told me that the people who will attend the show will be the ones He assigned. For me money wasn’t my aim with this show; hence I was giving away most tickets to the public for free,” she stated.
She said the ticket sales didn’t go well as people did not purchase them. The event was initially supposed to commence at 6 pm but it began at 11pm with attendants who were estimated to have been a little over 15 people.
SOULFUL: Gcina Izwi Ngubeni performing at her CD launch.
BIG YAWN: The few gospel music lovers who attended the event.
