Criminality scares in Eswatini: Cases of shanty areas

- NDUMISO AS I WAS SAYING

LADIES and gentlemen allow me to pass my heartfelt condolences to all families and loved ones who have actually had criminals in their families. There is a saying “umfundisi akamtali umfundisi” Many societies and communities around the globe share the same fate as many developing countries are facing nowadays: it is true there is a problem of poverty and hyper unemployment but armed robberies which is a syndicate of cold- blooded thieves who have no heart and zeal for the well- being of others in the societies.

Allow me to narrate something which nearly affected my career and above all my life in the process: my city, Manzini where all wrongs are located and wrongdoers are located.

It is at night where you here of footsteps: people running up and down at night and during the day where the masses and the police are ever chasing civilians who have taken things by force from other civilians.

The question therefore, is whether unemployment and poverty are the real course of theft and or other offenses in the country: it is really an excuse as now we have seen high rates of crime especially from the youth: my outmost tears goes to those

families who have been forcing matters and it is when they have accumulated their freedom when all of a sudden their hard efforts are then taken away within a twinkle of an eye.

The anarchy started when civilians shared the thought that their children are in the urban centres due to the problem of the theorem known as urban sprawl it is of this fact that many people are flocking in the towns hoping to get some utensils for sustainability but because of the norms and values of society which then differentiate between the haves and the have not’s.

I repeat is poverty the reason why many young people are forced into criminality: how long will it cause Eswatini to have a zero crime free country.

MODERNISATION

It is no longer wild beasts/ animals that many homes are beglared, one can even think of modernisation yet people are putting wall- fence and or strong gates for their safety and well- being. It is the youth who have failed to acquire food and other things to enhance their livelihoods using other alternatives/ means of sustainability.

Yet the policing system has even broken out to knowing and respecting some of the criminals.

The criminality rate of Eswatini has always been on the increase yet we claim to know

the consequences of criminality. It is unfortunate that such perpetrators of criminalities are on the loose and the government gives such pardons to such invaders of peace in societies: in Eswatini a state of normlessness thieves are arrested and sentenced are given eight ( 8) months in prison for attempted murder in some cases.

Some experiences are worth not forgetting as earlier in the week multitudes of civilians were left in tears and in shock when a group of gangsters attacked with guns attacked a certain residence and took materials which belonged to some individuals at gun- point: it was during early evening hours when a group of boys came and robbed such vindications and left untraced. I repeat is the social problems a root cause of the high crime rates experiences in the country.

A question therefore: what is the government doing to try and eradicate such cases of crime in the country: is criminality cause for concern: what are the methods set in place to try and substantiate such syndicates of crime: is it the right procedure to offer more correctional facilities as means of eradicating criminality?

I repeat is poverty and high unemployment the reason why many young people invoke in crime? . O R I G I N A L C O P Y . O R I G I N A L C O P Y . O R I G I N A L C O P Y . O R I G I N A L C O P Y O R I G I N A L C O P Y
