Trophy Challenge back

- Machawe Fakudze

MBABANE – The weekly Mbabane Pool Trophy Challenge is slated for a return next Friday. According to Sicelo Mndzebele, the coordinator of the pool challenge, they did not host the tournament yesterday.

“The games have been pushed to next Friday to allow the players to prepare enough after the break. Once you are not active for a long time in any sport, you lose form. So, we gave the players enough time to practise. We want to watch entertaining games of pool when we resume the pool challenge,” Mndzebele said.

He said the players complained that they had been given a short period to prepare since most of them had been inactive for some time now. He further said some of them last played the game after the last edition of the trophy challenge about a month ago.

“The players said they wanted to regain form so that they would be in their element when the games resume. We are going to watch fantastic games come next week Friday,’’ the coordinator said.

REGULATIONS

He also said they would continue to follow all the COVID- 19 regulations as per the government of Eswatini’s guidelines.

“No mask no entry in the venue and we are going to observe social distancing and luckily for us, our sport is not a contact sport like the other sports,” he said.

He promised that they would release the fixture next week and by that time the players would be in good form and ready for the games. The trophy pool challenge was suspended when the political unrest erupted in the country a few weeks back.

The challenge is played in two categories, which are the singles and the doubles. The Mbabane Pool Trophy Challenge is played at Express Car Wash every Friday.
