HRFA teams appeal EFA elections verdict BABANE
M– It is not over yet. After 28 days, the aggrieved 11 Hhohho Regional Football Association ( HRFA) teams have filed a notice of appeal against the High Court judgment on the Eswatini Football Association ( EFA) executive elections.
It has been reliably gathered that the appellants filed the notice of appeal yesterday in court.
When reached for comment, the appellants’ lawyer Sifiso Jele confirmed the notice of appeal.

“The court erred both in fact and in law by dismissing the application on the basis that the appellants did not have locus standi to bring the matter to court as they were not members of EFA. The EFA Statutes clearly spelt out that they were members,” said Jele.
“The court erred both in fact and law by allowing the elections to proceed when the general assembly was not properly constituted. The elections were contrary to the Statutes and the Electoral code,” he added.
High Court Judge Mzwandile Fakudze dismissed the urgent application filed by Zinyane All Stars and 10 other clubs on June 26. All Stars together with the 10 clubs from the Hhohho Regional Football Association had filed an urgent application, where they were accusing the EFA of violating Statutes and the Electoral code.
APPEALING
They were also appealing to the court to stop and nullify the elections process which was held on June 27 at Happy Valley Hotel. However, Judge Fakudze ruled in favour of the Eswatini Football Associations ( EFA) and EFA Ethics Committee which were the first and second respondents.
Fakudze dismissed the case with costs citing that the appellants were not members of the EFA and they had no locus standi to bring the matter to court.
