We are afraid of speaking truth - Madubula
LOBAMBA – Senator Madubula Dlamini has said senators were at times afraid of speaking the truth as they were prone to be called down through the ‘ Point of Order’.
Point of Order is a procedure by which members of Parliament and senators stand up to interrupt one who is speaking to either correct that person or stop them because they are speaking out of tune.
Dlamini was speaking in Senate after thanking His Majesty the King for appointing Cleopas Dlamini as prime minister, saying such an appointment was approved by the Heavens.
RESOLVE
He said his personal understanding of the King’s speech was that he said Parliament had the onus to resolve the current political tensions.
He said one way of strengthening Parliament involvement in bringing har mony was to revive the economy and ensure that there are jobs for the youth and that people have food to eat.
“The King was saying we must speak truthfully and honestly. It is a pity that sometimes we are afraid of speaking the truth. We use point of orders to tell people to sit down.
UNPALATABLE
“From now on anyone who wants me to sit down using a point order must be specific because I will not sit down. To my knowledge, a point of order is used when one speaks unpalatable words or speaks about someone who is not in the House or mentions the name of a person yet such should not happen,” he said.
He said the prime minister was the King’s boy, but also his boy. However, he was called to order by the Senate president who said the PM was the King’s boy not the senator’s boy.
