Dladla: Chiefs found another Mashamaite

DURBAN – Former Richards Bay FC head coach Simo Dladla believes Kaizer Chiefs have found themselves another Tefu Mashamaite in Austin Dube.

Amakhosi announced the Bafana Bafana centreback as their seventh signing as they continue to strengthen for a new season.

Goa l k e e p e r Br e n d o n P e t e r s e n , defenders Njabulo Ngcobo, Sibusiso Mabiliso, midfielder Phathusedzo Nange and winger Kgaogelo Sekgota are the other signings, while Given

Thibedi returned from his loan spell at Swallows. Dladla coached Dube i n t he GladAfrica Championship last season and advised Chiefs not to hesitate throwing the 28yearold into the deep end. “He will make it,” Dladla told KickOff. com.

PASSIONATE ABOUT DEFENDING

“Austin is someone who is passionate about defending, and he has mastered the art of defending. He is not clumsy. He’s someone that can easily give you 30 games because he is not exposed to tackles and cautions you see, and suspensions things like that.

“He’s very technical and he reads the game very well, plus he’s one of those rare centrebacks with a left foot. And he’s someone who uses his brains more than the body. He’s got height and has eyes for goals. This past season alone he scored five goals in 30 games at Richards Bay.

“He’s exactly l i ke Mashamaite because he can score, Mashamaite used to score lot of goals through setpieces. Dube can score, he i s a clever player, I’m sure you saw him playing for Bafana he did not concede in the COSAFA the whole t o u r n a men t a n d h e wa s a l wa y s there.”
