S I TEKI – The Es wat i ni Tennis Association ( ETA) presented tennis equipment to Siteki and Mhlume Tennis Clubs.

Presenting the equipment was ETA Secretary General Nqaba Mkhaliphi, who said the equipment was sourced from the International Tennis Federation for the benefit of junior tennis players.

Mk hali phi said this during the Lubombo Region inter- club tournament played yesterday at Siteki.

Mkhaliphi said the equipment was part of t he E70 000 consignment which ETA received on an annual basis from ITF.

This includes rackets, tennis balls, sponge balls for beginners as well as green- dot balls. Receiving the equipment were the club coaches Njabulo Mbhamali and Gabi Mkhabela.

“We are happy with the tennis development programme taking place in the Lubombo region. We aim for mass participation and unearthing talent so this equipment will help the clubs to ensure that they have enough supply for the beginners and the experienced players,” said Mkhaliphi.

Mk hali phi said the equipment would be distributed across all local tennis clubs, with the next stop being Ezulwini Tennis Club followed by Hlatsi.

“We are happy that the equipment will last us for the rest of the year since some have been reserved and would be disbursed as time goes on, depending on the demand in the various clubs,” said Mkhabela.

Mhlume Tennis Club Coach Gabi Mk ha bela thanked ETA and IT F for supporting their vision and mission to explore hidden talent and hopefully create future international champions.

“We are grateful to IT F and the tennis association for presenting us with this equipment. It doesn’t come cheap and some parents can’t afford to buy them for their children yet if we have the equipment in our clubs, it will be easy for the children to join in numbers,” said Mkhabela.

He further encouraged parents and guardians to support the children in their sport of choice, bearing in mind the positive impact of sports participation for the youth in terms of boosting their mental capacity and as a future career.
