Lwazi gets bursary in South Africa

MBABANE- The sky is the limit.

Eswatini- born internatio­nally acclaimed opera singer Lwazi Dlamini, has been accepted to the Cape Town Opera’s Young Artists Programme ( YAP) for the year 2021/ 22 Bursary. YAP i s a programme t hat grooms young artists f or t he profession­al world, providing them with more performing exper i e nce a nd s har peni ng t hei r skills i nto perfection. It also provides i nternation­al t ours, production­s, concerts as well as coachings.

Dlamini said he got the post t hrough audit i ons t hat were announced last year. He is part of the three that were given the opportunit­y t o be part of t he programme.

“It was last year when they had announced on social media that they’ll be having video clip auditions for the first stage of the applicatio­n process, which meant that if your video fitted t heir r ecommended cri t eri a, they’ll then call you for a live a u d i t i o n s which was where I shined and only three of us were accepted,” he said.

“My plan is to keep on studying music, performing and learning from the best in Europe where the Opera world exists. I would also like to come b a c k h o me a f t e r my s e a r c h for knowledge and happiness and give back to my communit y which i s my end goal,” he added.

I t i s worth noting t hat t he post will be one of Dlamini’s achievemen­ts as he has also been t o Berli n Opera Academy for the opera festival in Germany.
