667 test positive, seven die

MB A B A N E – T h e c o u n t r y r e c o r d e d the highest number of people who tested positive for COVID- 19 in one day, at 667.

Alongside the shocker, seven died from complicati­ons related to the pandemic.

This was f rom at l east 1 774 t ests conducted i n t he past 24 hours, according t o updates f rom t he Ministry of Health.

STRAINED

Statistics also show that the country’s health facilities are steadily becoming strained as the total number of people currently admitted for COVID- 19 illness is 252.

The number of active cases in the country is at an all time high of 4 033, while 227 recovered yesterday.

The statistics released yesterday have taken the total number of people who have been infected to 25 515 and deaths to 779 ever since the pandemic was discovered in the country last year.

RECOVERED

At least 20 703 have recovered.

Manzini has the highest number of cases at 10 018 while Hhohho comes second with 9 424. Lubombo has 3 447,

while Shiselweni has the least infections with 2 626.

In the statistics released yesterday, seven of those who tested positive were above the age of 80.

TESTED

A bulk came from the working class between the ages 20 and 30, where 350 people tested positive.

The ministry continued to rollout the vaccinatio­n programme as the number of those who have received the first and second dose of the Oxford AstraZenec­a is 27 341, while those who received only one dose are 38 326.
