SA boss pays Wanderers stars

- Machawe Fakudze

‘‘ They received their salaries for a month today ( yesterday) and we’re grateful to our director.’’

MB A B A N E – T o u g h promise but partly kept! Manzini Wanderers had finally kept their promise to pay the players their owed salaries within the two days they had requested from the players ahead of the MTN Premier League game this afternoon against rookies Tinyosi at Mavuso Sports Centre.

The players and the technical bench were owed salaries for the months of May and June, a wage bill said to be amounting to E400 000. The club PRO Mlungisi Ndzinisa had said on Thursday, they had promised the players their salaries by yesterday even though they did not have a cent to keep the promise.

However, after discussing the matter with their South Africa- based Director Cedric Mathata Mashile, he was able to give them one month’s pay for the players and technical bench led by coach Nyanga ‘ Crooks’ Hlophe.

“They received their salaries for a month today ( yesterday) and we’re grateful to our director,” he said.

However, the promise was to pay all owed monies but half a loaf is better than nothing and the Management Committee ( MC) had last week offered the players E1 000 each to return to training two days before a game against Tambankulu Callies and won 1- 0. The challenge with the salaries is far from over though as the players remain owed two months’ pay as its now end of July and they will expect to be paid.
