Nothing new after retirement

AVOID trying out new things after your retirement date. Everything at this stage in your life costs something: it could be money, life and even health. You should remember that you are in the inal days of your life.

In as much as they say that it is never too late to start, but it is wise to think critically at some point in life before engaging yourself in things that might even cost you even the very last coin that you might have labored all your entire life.

No chance without risk

The irst ive years after retirement are critical years in your life. This is a period of inal adjustment­s. Every action that you take during this period is critical. In fact research indicates that more than 50 percent of retirees are faced with various cope up challenges during the last ive years, some of which include stress related and chronic illness such as stroke, anxiety, even to death to some worst situation.

Period for checks and balances However, the irst ive years after retirement should be a period of checks and balances. It should not be a period of starting out new things like buying a new car as a form of reward, getting married, etc. but should be a period of re lection, identifyin­g gaps or thing that you never did well and correct.

Nothing new should happen after retirement

In other words, this period after retirement should not the beginning of the new life, but a continuati­on of the normal life. Most people make this mistake by thinking that a new life has begun. In fact, it kills you psychologi­cally. A good example is when your work place has organised a sendoff party where your colleagues make speeches about the role you played in a company or organisati­on.

These people usually speak in such a way that would make you think that your entire life had come to an end. They would tell you to go and start becoming a farmer, a grandparen­t, etc. The fact i s t hat nothing new should be expected after retirement. That is the only way to can survive the emotional challenge.
