Madam,

For Eswatini to construct a better country; well governed and resources shared a c r o s s a l l c o mmunit i e s , we need to work together and decisions need t o be driven by data. As a country we n e e d t o u n i t e a r o u n d a common vision, have a p e o p l e - o r i e n t e d g o v e r n - ment and develop effective ways to manage our limited resources.

There is no straight forward solution to our challenges, but to me it is apparent that change is inevi t able. Change i s painful, change i s continuous and it takes place when people change their behaviour and adopt i nnovative ways t o t r a ns f or m t hei r e nvi r on - ment. I n or der t o r e a l i s e development we need t o bring the public, private and community sectors together t o work on a common v i s i o n . One o f t h e a r e a s we need to be able to work without fear is the political situation. To achieve a sustainable economy Eswatini needs to raise the level of f i x e d i n v e s t ment s o t h a t t h e e c o n o my, e s p e c i a l l y the private sector, is labour absorbing.

The c hal l e nges t hat we a r e c ur r e nt l y f a c i ng a s a country are due to too much i nt e r f e r e nce a nd non- e f - f i ci ent management s yst ems among government par a s t a t a l s . Government parastatals and the private sector are not operating at an optimal level. We do not need more than 10 ministries. In order to face reality a nd make well i nf or med decisions we need to stop a s s o c i a t i n g Ti n k h u n d l a with dei t y. I f t he s yst e m came from God the country would not be suffering from poverty, political instability and lack of infrastructure. We need to develop the system so that it is responsive, accountable, effective and efficient.
