ANZINI – They are slowly but surely turning the corner.

Pigg’s Peak- based Malanti Chiefs have relegation to avoid with three games remaining and yesterday put up a good fight to earn a point from a Pigg’s Peak- based side. Malanti Chiefs frustrated Green Mamba to a goalless draw in a lukewarm MTN Premier League.

The l atter played l ike t hey were tired but understandably so as they come from playing a derby against Young Buffaloes, which they lost 1- 2 in a midweek fixture.

The result meant Malanti remained r ooted f ourth f r om bottom on 25 points, a point i n t he clear which leaves them with a lot of work to do in the last three matches. Malanti had lost 01 in the reverse fixture played back i n April so at t his stage, t he point is a valuable one.

For Malanti, consistency i s t he key i n ensuring t hat t hey are not relegated.

MSHOCKED

Last Sunday, they shocked Mbabane Highlanders with a 1- 0 defeat at Nsukuwansuku Stadium in Mhlume. Green Mamba, who were 2018/ 19 league champions, have been blowing hot and cold this season and surely Coach Caleb Ngwenya, wishes to forget it soonest.

I t was di s a ppoint i ng t o s e e t he home side struggling to break the Malanti defence. All they did was knock the ball and their attacking would crumble on the last third. They did not create clear cut chances and even coach Ngwenya admitted that.

Malanti on t he ot her hand were r esolute i n t heir defence and t hey tried to catch the opponents on counter- attacks which also did not yield any goal.

As a result, the score was really a true reflection of the game.
