Moz man who lived in car dies
MBABANE – The Mozambican man, Sergio Langa, who lived inside a car has passed away.
Langa had lived in the kingdom for over 10 years.
The news of his passing was confirmed by Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati.
She mentioned that they were still trying to locate his family and close relatives.
“He passed away on Tuesday morning and we have been trying to locate his family. We are working closely with Chairperson of the Mozambican Association in the country Domingo Thomo. So far we have nothing,’’ said Vilakati during an interview with this publication.
The news of Langa’s death was also confirmed by a reliable source, who shared that they discovered the Mozambican man dead in his car.
“We found him dead on Tuesday morning and we were all shocked. Three days ago, people were donating blankets and food parcels to him,’’ said the source. They also mentioned that they were saddened by the news.
Before he met his death, this publication had reported that the needy and sickly man of Mozambique origin could not afford a proper and decent shelter.
It was reported that he was living an unbearable life at Sidwashini in Mbabane as he had found himself forced to use an abandoned scrap car as his home.
His health had, therefore, deteriorated over the months as he would cough non-stop and was glaringly in need of medical attention.
Disability
The man had arrived in the country under unknown circumstances about 10 years ago, could no longer fend for himself by doing odd jobs to get an income as he had a disability, having been involved in a hit-and-run accident sometime ago.
Chairperson of the Mozambican Association in the country Thomo at that time said there were many such sad cases of people from Mozambique that they had to deal with frequently in the country.
When called yesterday, Thomo’s phone rang unanswered during the time of compiling this report.
He was wanted for a comment on the death of Langa.
