MATSAPHA – At some point, the senior police officer submitted that he suspected that video clips which were played by Advocate Mduduzi ‘Tsotsi’ Mabila were cooked.

Assistant Superintendent Mfanimpela Mazibuko made this claim when the advocate cross-examined him, especially about the tent, which he had submitted he did not see during the operation on May 21, 2021.

When the video clip had played for 2.55 minutes, the advocate asked him if he would agree that there was a white thing on the far end of the sports ground and that it was a tent. In response, the witness submitted that even though he could not see clearly, it did not look like a tent.

The advocate replayed the video clip and asked him if what he was seeing was not a tent. The witness submitted that it looked like a tent.

“Just admit, it is a tent,” the advocate said.

Longer

However, the witness submitted that since the advocate mentioned that the video was allegedly over two minutes and that he had another that was a bit longer than that, he suspected it had been cooked.

Thereaafter, the Coroner, Senior Magistrate Nonhlanhla Dlamini, reminded Mazibuko that during his first appearance in the inquest, he was told to view the videos on YouTube.

In response, the witness submitted that what he was seeing at the inquest were short video clips, yet YouTube he saw long ones.

Again, the coroner reminded him that it was agreed in the inquest that the videos should be selected and cut because they were about two hours long and they could not sit and watch the whole memorial service.

Thereafter, the coroner asked the witness if what he was seeing from the videos was different from what he had seen from those on YouTube. In response, Mazibuko submitted that since the coroner had explained, he accepted it.

The witness added that he could not go against the coroner.
